Luca Bonaccorsi

Luca Bonaccorsi is a new media artist, video director, and musician from Italy, based in Taiwan. He holds an MFA in Filmmaking from National Taiwan University of Arts, where his artistic research began in experimental video before expanding into new media art, spanning video art, audiovisual performance, and installation. His work has been exhibited at venues including the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB), among others.

His practice reflects on the use of the computer as an instrument, exploring algorithmic, psychoacoustic, and spectral processing to produce otherwise impossible mutations of sound.

About the Performance: console_input

For the occasion of this performance, I thought a lot about what connection means. In my practice, I mostly use digital tools, particularly focusing on the laptop as an instrument and on how I want to avoid using it as a standard player; rather, can it become a console that grants access to the very same realm where this connection stands?

Everything is run in real time, to put it on the same level as the performance. Node-based software that constantly evolves, like a video game, a data stream, an evolving machine, driven by the music of performers who will play together at a significant distance.

There is no intention to create an alternative three-dimensional world, nor a document of reality. Maybe the visuals can help us see the relationship between the real and the digital infrastructure, or the media landscape it symbolizes. Getting into the input, actively mutating the data stream.
