lololol

lololol is an artist collective founded by Xia LIN and Sheryl CHEUNG, who live and work in Taipei. The name, a boundless extension of the Internet slang “lol” (meaning “laugh out loud”), evokes both I Ching structures and computer code. The collective explores how emotions and body politics are informed by technological cultures, with interests spanning martial arts, materialist ontologies, and Taoist-informed philosophies.

About the Performance: Light Keeper #2

Despite the widespread use of GPS in maritime navigation today, sailors at sea still prefer to “see the light with their own eyes”—the beam from a lighthouse, the outline of the shore, the shifting patterns on the water. These cues make up a multisensory experience that allows for a physical act of confirmation. Even amidst dense fog and uncertain boundaries, the relationship between body and environment still serves as the true compass. Drifting Beacon #2 is an expanded cinema performance that explores the poetics of navigation through sound and light.
