Sun Moon Darkness
Mong Tong
Sun Moon Darkness is an album born from the imagination of Future Folk.
It intertwines the folk sounds of Taiwan, the atmosphere of West Asia, and the futuristic textures of electronic synthesizers to portray a sound structure that feels both ancient and avant-garde.
It is a voice that emerges from the local and points toward the future — a sound that expands the very possibilities of folk music.
Mong Tong (Taipei) is a Taiwanese psychedelic music band formed by brothers Hom Yu and Jiun Chi. The name “Mong Tong” is derived from the brothers’ childhood nickname, which can mean something totally different in different languages from Burmese, Cantonese to Mandarin Chinese.
Mong Tong’s music is heavily influenced by Southeast Asian culture, including its mythology and folklore, as well as 60s and 70s psychedelic music. Their sound is characterized by hypnotic rhythms, dreamy melodies, and otherworldly atmospheres.
