Anamorphosis & Anatexis- clamor stories, even veritas

The  Anamorphosis & Anatexis  series is a sound performance developed by Yang Yu-Chiao in 2017, blending traditional storytelling with extended vocal techniques. It draws on the linguistic textures and sound characteristics found in various languages of folktales and narrative poetry, responding to the conditions of any performance space, site, or public area. In traditional storytelling, the fictional text’s scenes, sounds, and formulaic plots are layered over the performance space. Additionally, any traces left in the physical space serve as a sonic track, allowing the performance’s repeated readings to reveal the building as a layered accumulation of human activity. This series has collaborated with several sound artists, including Liu Fangyi Liu, Xu Chia-Chun, Huang Dawang, Bei San Q Nan, Dean Chiyou, Jyun-Ao Caesar, Lai Chi-Hsia, etc. The theme Clamor Stories, even Veritas represents a new work for 2024, where the artist will focus more on the properties, origins, and appearances of objects within fictional texts. This exploration will give rise to a series of onomatopoeia, translating these objects into sound clusters that carry fragments of stories.
