PengLai Mt. is a band project dedicated to combining Mandopop with R&B, reggae, and off-beat music. Initiated by COSiMOZ, who is also at the core of the creative process and acts as songwriter and producer, the band features guitarist Andy Chen from LTK Commune, the mastermind behind EVERFOR Su Weian, Balai, live musician Kazunari Ooue and drummer Cai Bai-han from Freckles. The name of the group pays homage to Taiwan’s adult entertainment channel PengLai Mt. in the 1990s. Their genre primarily consists of Mandarin ballads while incorporating elements such as rocksteady and lovers rock. By blending Taiwanese rock, jazz, and soul music, they achieve to create a neo-Taiwanese style of psychedelic romanticism and present authentic Austronesian soundscapes.
