DJ Tiger

Tiger is not only a veteran DJ but also an expert in sound system design. Although he is not as well-known as today’s young star DJs, he was one of the key figures propelling the development of electronic music in Taiwan during the 1990s.

As early as the 1980s, when European New Wave music was sweeping the dance floors, Tiger dedicated his life to dance music. Transitioning from a young street dancer to a part-time DJ and eventually becaming a resident DJ, he residented and performed at the clubs such as Kiss DISCO, Circus, Sex a Go Go, Live a Go Go, and Queen’s. In 1998, when electronic dance music first gained public attention in Taiwan, he co-founded the legendary dance hall TeXound with other enthusiasts and personally managed the audio hardware and sound equipment. In addition to his role as a resident DJ, he also served as a show planner, inviting renowned foreign DJs to perform in Taiwan. During this period, he released “TeXound: Version 001” (2001), which became a classic in Taiwan’s DJ remix album scene.

Tiger possesses a keen sense of sound systems, which may explain why his music selections, in terms of acoustic performance, are often more nuanced and richer than those of other DJs. He favors genres such as Progressive House and Techno and excels at guiding audiences into the psychedelic spaces he creates through prolonged emotional brew.

As time has progressed, Tiger primarily works behind the scenes today. Nonetheless, with his expertise in music and sound systems, he continues to promote the development of electroacoustic music in Taiwan. His unwavering commitment to electronic music makes every performance an impressive auditory journey.
